Day 1: 5 things not to miss at Epcot Food and Wine Festival

Once again, the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is underway. The event has its earliest start ever, and it will go on (and on) daily at the Walt Disney World theme park through Nov. 13 – just in time to shift gears to Epcot’s Christmas proceedings.

But right now, the weather outside is just frightful in that August-in-Florida way. As always, find your shade, stay hydrated and wear sunscreen.

Here are five things of note from Food & Wine Day 1.

1. New to the festival is the Light Lab. We liked it, and not just for the Day-Glo drinks and the air-conditioning. There’s also a limited time menu item called a Glownut selling for $3. Goodness, that’s way less than the Mickey Bar ($5 these days). To be honest, it was more big and doughy than glowy, but still fun. Hey, kids, there are non-alcoholic drinks here, including the T=CC2 (vanilla tonic water and cotton candy) and a citrus apple freeze.
