Hurricane Irma causes cruise lines to cancel, shorten sailings

Several cruise lines have either canceled or shortened sailings as Hurricane Irma threatens Florida.

Disney Cruise Line canceled the seven-night cruise on Disney Fantasy that was to depart Port Canaveral on Sept. 9 and two planned cruises from Port Canaveral on Disney Dream slated to depart Sept. 8 and Sept. 11.

In addition, the Disney Fantasy, currently on a western Caribbean sailing that departed Sept. 2, will return to Port Canaveral two days earlier than expected on Thursday, Sept. 7. Disney Dream, which departed Sept. 4 on a Bahamas cruise, will also return one day earlier than planned on Thursday.

The cruise line is refunding passengers for the missed nights and offering 25 percent discounts for those on shortened cruises for a future booked cruise while giving full refunds for the canceled cruises as well as being offered the 25 percent discount for a future cruise.
